Tarleton is in the process of considering, discussing and planning a possible move to Division I athletic competition. We are currently a Division II school. The move would require a budget increase of approximately $5 million dollars, to be covered by various means, including a possible gameday parking fee, ISD rentals, an increase to the student athletic fee of approximately 10 percent, potential NCAA media revenue and various corporate sponsorships Tarleton hopes to gain. At this point, the move is still in the consideration and planning phase. Student input is valuable to the process, so JTAC News wants to know – do you want to see Tarleton make the jump to Division I? Keep an eye out for a detailed look at the D-I discussion in our next print issue, hitting newsstands Nov. 9!
