TexAnn volleyball sweeps Texas Wesleyan

The TexAnns defeated the Rams in a 3-0 sweep on Monday.

The Tarleton State University volleyball team faced Texas Wesleyan on Monday, Sept. 14 on the TexAnns’ home court and took the Rams in a 3-0 sweep.

A kill from Kenya Alexander started out the scoring for the TexAnns. Chandler Gow was able to get four straight points in the first set to help her team get a 7-1 lead on the Rams.

Texas Wesleyan attempted to make a comeback with a score of 13-11, TexAnns, but Tarleton was not giving up their hard-earned lead. The TexAnns took the game at 25-14. Hailey Roberts, Meg Umbel, and Kelsey Raglin each had four kills, while Gow added 11 points.

Set two ended with the same result as the first. Another 25-14 win was obtained with the help of kills from Roberts, Raglin, Umbel, Alexander, and Xzache Mathis and an ace by Ayssa Garcia.

The Rams were able to get their first lead of the match during the third set. After two leads and a tie at eight-all, the Rams were finished. Tarleton was not going to back down, and took the lead with a 10-0 run all served by Alexander. The sweep was finished at 25-15.

Roberts managed 14 kills, her 17th straight game with double-digit kills. Raglin was able to dish out nine kills, while Umbel, Alexander, and Mathis each had five. Umbel also had a team-leading seven blocks.

Gow managed 37 assists throughout all three sets. Adrianna Knutson had 13 digs, while Garcia had 11.

The TexAnns will go into Lone Star Conference play at 8-2, travelling to Angelo State University on Wed., Sept. 16 for a 7 p.m. game.
