Poor second-half shooting plagued the TexAnns Saturday, as they suffered a 65-75 loss to the Cameron University (7-7,4-1) Aggies on the road.

As was the case with Midwestern,Tarleton’s first half scoring was consistent jumping to an early 6-0 lead.

From this point, the Aggies went on a 17-6 scoring run. Kathy Thomas’s eight straight points would make the score 24 to 20 granting Tarleton momentum, as well as, a four-point advantage as six minutes remained before 37-37 tie at halftime.

The TexAnns last scoring advantage occurred with just under 13 minutes in the game with the score set at 54-48 after Kathy Thomas’s bucket from beyond the arc.

Over the next five minutes the Texans shot a total of 2/23 from the field including five missed three-point attempts.

As less than five minutes remained in the game, Tarleton trailed Cameron 71- 58.  Another three point shot from Kathy Thomas shrunk the Aggie’s lead to only three points during the closing minutes.

Though the games final seconds would entail a steal courtesy of Karli Moore followed by a Morgan Ashmore layup, Tarleton would fall by a final score of 75-64 to Cameron.

Ultimately, the TexAnn’s 33% shooting from the field, and three-point line served to their detriment. Cameron would also mirror their field and three-point shooting percentages at 45%.

The Texans will face off against West Texas A&M University January 21 at 5:30 PM in the Wisdom Gym.
