On Monday, Tarleton State University homecoming festivities were in full swing by the time evening rolled around. The Silver Bugle had already been hidden, and was ready to be found, with over 55 teams competing in the hunt for the coveted horn.

At 7 p.m. the horn was sounded, and the hunt began. After one hour, only 15 teams remained in the hunt for the Bugle. After tallying the votes and finding that there was a tie with multiple teams, questions were asked to certain teams to break the tie and make up the final 15.

Once the final teams were compiled, clues were given to each team with a certain letter on the paper. When the papers were put together, they spelled out a location. Only one team earned the letters that had the correct location for the Silver Bugle.

A team from Kappa Delta Rho, including Blane Powers, Collin Murphy, Drew Bumpas and CG Cruz, correctly answered all of their questions and were given the clues that spelled out where the Silver Bugle really was.

“The clue was ‘stuck on bandstand tree’,” said homecoming advisor Sue Goodman. “There were a few trees around there so they had to look.”

“It means the world to us,” said Cruz. “We’ve been studying for about a week. And it’s a great start to homecoming.”

The team from Kappa Delta Rho will join a long line of Silver Bugle Hunt winners before them.

“It’s a long, time-honored tradition on our campus,” Goodman said.
