In a critical Lone Star Conference matchup, the Tarleton State University Baseball team traveled to Porales New Mexico to take on the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds in a three game series. The Texans came out of Porales winless, dropping all three games to the Greyhounds.

The Tarleton State University Texan Baseball team, coming off a disappointing series against West Texas A&M University; were looking to change the course of their season with a win in Porales against the Greyhounds.

In the first game, the Greyhounds came out with an early lead, leading 2-0 at the bottom of the third inning. Seniors Rustin Thomas and Alvaro Moreno got the Texans back in the game, evening out the score 2-2 at the end of the sixth inning. Senior Christopher Patton had the Texans tied once again going into the eighth inning, but a late run at the bottom of the ninth inning caused the Texans to drop their first game, 3-4.

In the first game of Saturday’s double-header, the Texans began the game strong with a run from Senior Rustin Thomas in the first inning, and a run from Alvaro Moreno in the fourth inning, giving the Texans a 2-0 lead. However, the Texans were not able to stop or recover from the three straight runs that the Greyhounds put up in the sixth inning, and fell, 2-3.

In the second game of the double-header and final game of the series, the Texans were hoping to come out of Porales with a win. The Texans went down early in the fourth inning, 0-4, The Texans were able to rally and score two runs from Senior Alvaro Moreno and Junior Jonathan Schmitz in the sixth inning. However, the Texans were not able to produce any more runs, and dropped the last game, 2-4, and came out winless in the series, 0-3.

Next up, the Texans (17-16) will travel to Arlington, Texas, Tuesday April 8 to play Arlington Baptist College in a single game at 2 p.m.
