Tarleton State University and Stephenville’s own Six Market Blvd, the southern rock and roll Texas Music band, is scheduled to play their final show with lead singer Clayton Landua on Feb. 28 at City Limits Bar.

“Stephenville, Texas is where we call home,” bassist Ben Hussey said.

The home town band members all became quick friends in 2009 through various Tarleton activities and the nightlife music scene here in town.

The band is composed of lead singer Clayton Landua, lead guitar Josh Serrato, bass and vocals Ben Hussey, drums Justin Cogneto, and keyboardist Russel Shayhand.

Like every starting group of artists, they had their humble beginnings.

Sorroto said in reference to the smallest shows they’ve ever played, “we’ve had our fair share of nothing.”

But some hard work “grinding the stone,” as Sorrato said, brought them to where they are today, sporting such accomplishments as No. 42 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart, No. 22 on the Heatseekers Chart, No. 1 on the Heatseekers Regional South Central Chart, No. 5 on the iTunes Country Chart, and two Top 10 hits on the Texas Music Chart from their newest record “Shake It Down.”

“As Six Market, we’ve always prided ourselves as a band that can perform,” Sorrato said.

“Looking back there are two sides to Six Market Blvd,” Hussey said. “There are the live shows that we did and what we did in the studio. And the live shows were about creating that moment and having a good time in that moment and making that moment speak for itself because it’s just that [snaps] and then it’s gone. What we would do in the studio is try to build on that, create on that moment but add a little extra spice to it.”

When asked why they are Six Market Blvd, Hussey replied, “To be able to play and express ourselves through music. It’s the only way we know how to do it.”

In a press release about their final show, lead singer Landua said in reference to his departure from the band, “What an amazing run this has been for the past five years. The will and determination from everyone that has been involved with Six Market Blvd. is unforgettable and will be remembered with thankfulness and gratitude. Everyone on our business team, and without a doubt the amazing fans and friends, all hold a tight connection to what has taken place for this music group from the start. Thank you all.

“I am simply wanting to go in a different direction in my life and it is certain that the good Lord above is playing a major role in this. Many opportunities come to mind as far as turning my music to the direction of ministry and whatever can come from it. I’m looking forward to the changes to come and seeing my family more often who have been so supportive of Six Market Blvd. over the years,” Landua said.

However, just because Landua is leaving doesn’t mean that the remaining members will stop making music the way they know how.

In a press release, Hussey said he is looking forward to a new year of music from the remaining band members.

“I would like to thank all of our friends, family and fans for the past five years of continuous support, and a very special ‘thank you’ to our manager Nick Hammond for dealing with our [stuff],” Hussey said. “We wouldn’t have been able to do this without all of you. We have always agreed to do whatever is necessary to keep each other happy in our pursuits, and if that means exploring other opportunities, then out of respect for each other so be it. Red, Josh, and myself are going to move forward playing music together and working on a new project. Exciting things are coming for and from us. Much love to you all and please keep supporting live music.”
