Review: ‘James and the Giant Peach’ fun for all

“James and the Giant Peach” was a well-designed and well thought out play done by the Tarleton State University Theatre. The original play, written by Roald Dahl, was adapted by Tarleton’s Richard George and will be put on for children in the auditorium at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday Oct.19.

“James and the Giant Peach” is a well run-through and well-acted play that smoothly transitions from scene to scene, and is extremely well directed. James is fun to watch as the story develops throughout the play.

This is a well-directed play with a beautifully designed set, which flows well and compliments the themes of the show. The set changes from scene to scene were smooth and interacted well with the actors as the show progressed.

“James and the Giant Peach” is intended and directed for children, but is extremely fun for all ages, keeping viewers entertained and intrigued throughout the entire play. Older audiences will no doubt appreciate the humor of the show, and bright colors and fun characters will keep younger viewers engrossed throughout.

The play will run on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts center. Tickets are on sale for $10 to the general public, and $8 for students and senior citizens.
