“Fresh” is the word for Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill in Granbury

Local restaurant goers and foodies in Stephenville who need something fresh and new should pay a visit to Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill in Granbury.  Nestled inside the Lake Granbury Marina, Stumpy’s provides a nice change of pace, and is more than worth a little extra driving time.

When I visited Stumpy’s, the best way to describe my dining experience is that it was fresh. The burgers are cooked to order (always medium rare for me). The patties are advertised as fresh, never frozen, and I could taste the difference.  They have a “build your own burger” bar to fix it up however one chooses, with a large assortment of fresh fixings.  Even the pickles tasted like they had been freshly cut and pickled there, not out of a jar.  The french fries were my favorite kind, with the skin left on, but were not cut too thick.

One can choose to sit indoors, or outdoors right on the lake, weather permitting.  The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was very friendly. While waiting for the food to be prepared, every visitor gets to enjoy freshly made tortilla chips and salsa on the house. I also sampled their baja-style fish tacos, and I was pleasantly surprised to say that they are even better than the ones from Fuzzy’s.

The grill also features a full-service bar, where I was able to try a “blood and honey” ale, made by Granbury’s new local brewery, the Revolver Brewing Company.  It is an unfiltered ale, made with wheat and barley,  zest from blood oranges, and local honey from Granbury’s own Fall Creek Farms.  It doesn’t get any fresher than locally made ale containing locally made ingredients.

Every aspect of my experience at Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill was very positive, and I highly recommend everyone to give it a try.
