A new bike share program has been introduced at Tarleton State University for the fall 2016 school year.

The program, which has 35 bicycles at six different locations, will provide a safe, alternative way of transportation for students. Rides are free for the first three hours, and then riders are charged $3 per hour after, up to $24 for eight additional hours. If a bicycle is kept for more than 24 hours, the rider is charged a $20 fee.

Bicycles are located at Hunewell Annex, Centennial Hall, the Horticulture Center, Lillian Street Commuter parkingĀ lot P41 and lot P20N near the intramural fields.

To checkout a bike, download the free Zagster mobile app, which is availableĀ for iPhone and Android. Each bike has a unique ID that is entered into the app. The app provides an access code to unlock the bicycle.

Each bike is equipped with a flexible lock that can be used for the duration of the ride to lock and unlock the bike anywhere. Riders can even take the bike off campus and into the Stephenville community.

Riders are urged to be safe and follow the rules of the road. In Texas, bicycles are considered vehicles, and riders are liable for any damage or injury caused to others.

Students can learned more about the program, pricing, locations and more at www.zagster.com/tarleton.
