Tarleton State University will once again send anglers to the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship, which is scheduled to take place this summer.

Tarleton will be represented by two teams at the championships after placing among the top 20 in the in the Carhartt Bassmaster Central Regional tournament that took place on Jan. 28.

The two teams who will advance to the championships are composed of Tarleton Bass Fishing Club Members Justin Seeton, Dakota Ebare, Stetson Overton and Cason Kelly. Seeton and Ebare placed tenth overall at regionals.

“We prepare by doing as much research about the lake as possible,” Seeton said. “We also look up past tournament results, watch videos, looking up fishing reports and making sure their gear is ready.”

Despite advancing to National’s, the anglers do not know where or when it will be. Seeton said, “BASS has not announced the location of the lake or the time of the event.”

The teams must be ready whenever the announcement is made and be prepared to give their best.

This is not the first-time Tarleton anglers made Nationals. According to Seeton, Tarleton send three teams last year, which took place at Green River Lake in Kentucky.

However, these two teams are not the only ones advancing to a form of Nationals.

According to Seeton, “Three teams qualified for the Fishing League Worldwide 2017 National Championship and two teams Qualified for the FLW 2018 National Championship.”

Seeton said, “I expect us to compete at our highest level of competition and do our best.”
