Favorite Tarleton tradition:
My favorite Tarleton tradition would have to be Silver Taps. Coming in as a freshmen, you light your candle and this symbolizes welcoming you into the Tarleton Family and during Silver Taps, this is our way of laying your flame to rest. Last year Dr. Dottavio said, “Silver Taps represents more than just a tradition” and that hit hard for me. Knowing that no matter where you go in life or how far away you are from Stephenville, Tarleton will always remember you and your time at this university. It has been an honor to be able to participate in Silver Taps for the past 2 years and to know when it is my time someone will be blowing out my flame that I started when I came to Tarleton.
Favorite Tarleton memory:
I have had so many great memories at Tarleton and so thankful for what Tarleton has offered me. My favorite Tarleton memory would have to be the last day of Duck Camp 3 last summer. The last day is always emotional for everyone if you ever experienced DC. It is between being sad but also happy, because you have grown so close with the leaders and campers to realize all over again why you choose to come here. The best part is after all the emotions is you realize that you will always have someone to go to and live out our CORE values with everyday even after camp. I think in that moment at camp I realized, I will never be able to experience this again but I will always have these leaders/campers by myside and that is a memory you can never replace. Tarleton is a special place and I will forever be thankful for all the opportunities I was given to be able to grown into the women I am today.
