Stephenville natives Giovannie & The Hired Guns were created in 2015 and have been rocking out ever since. The band is made up of Giovannie Yanez who is the lead singer and the group of guys who make up The Hired Guns, guitarist Chance Bannister, rhythm guitarist Adam Urbanczyk, bassist Alex Trejo, and their newest band member of four months – drummer Milton Toles.

“I met Chance Bannister back when I had the first set of guns [band members] playing bass for me and then eventually that turned into Bannister playing the lead guitar,” Yanez said. “I saw Alex Trejo once when I was drunk walking through a crowd of people one year at LJT. He was already playing bass for another rock band, but I told him he was going to be playing for me from now on and that was that. Adam Urbanczyk basically fell out of the sky and Milton Toles auditioned not too long ago and we all loved his style. Now were here!”

The band name Giovannie & The Hired Guns came about because Giovannie created the band but what about The Hired Guns?

“About five years ago a venue we were playing at asked what we wanted on the marquee sign and we all kind of thought about how I basically hired “Hired Guns” almost every weekend so it just stuck,” Yanez said.

The band’s latest single “Lover Boy” was released this past February and seems to be a hit with over 48,000 plays on Spotify.

“I think the song is doing good and is setting everyone up for the next album” Yanez said.

The band believes its biggest hit so far is a song called “Another Time” which was released in 2017 with over 178,000 plays and holds the number one spot on Spotify. The songs deep lyrics and awesome instrumentals about a failed relationship strikes a chord with a lot of people so it’s no surprise it’s doing so well. The band loves to perform its songs “Change”, “Satan”, and “St. Paul (John Fullbright)”. Although the band has a lot of hits you can expect a new album to rock out to this fall with more singles to be released in the meantime.

It’s no wonder the bands favorite venue to perform at is Twisted J Live right here in Stephenville, Texas because according to Yanez, “hometown shows are always a win”. Although they love to perform at Twisted J Live their dream place to perform is another local stage.

“Right on top of that mountain headed north of Stephenville on the main stage at LJT,” Yanez said.

LJT is a huge honor for most Texas artist and bands and Giovannie & The Hired Guns feel just as honored.  They are looking most forward to, “getting to experience that moment of playing at the festival with the boys,” Yanez said. But most of all Yanez wanted to say, “thank you to all our fans we love each and every one of you! I promise we won’t let you down!”
