Tarleton Texans stand as the only undefeated team in the LSC after their homecoming victory against Texas A&M Commerce Lions

On Saturday, No. 4 Tarleton Texans defeated No. 20 Texas A&M Commerce Lions advancing the Texans wins to 7-0. The Homecoming win was witnessed by another record-breaking crowd in the Lonn Reisman Athletic Center at Memorial Stadium.

The Homecoming game was attended by over 11,000 eager football fans and the Texans now stand as the only undefeated team in the Lone Star Conference with a 5-0 streak in the league.

The Texans started off the first quarter of the game with two back-to-back touchdowns within the first few minutes of the game. Khalil Banks ran for 2-yards to score the first Texan touchdown of the night, earning him his ninth touchdown of the season, making him the LSC player with the most accumulated touchdowns for the year.

The second touchdown of the night was out of pure coincidence when the Lions fumbled a pass behind the line of scrimmage and Texan, Tre Johnson recovered the ball for a 30-yard run to the end zone.

By the second quarter, the Commerce Lions managed to put some points on the board, but the Texans were quick to answer back with another touchdown with a pass from Ben Holmes to Zimari Manning. During the night, Manning went on to score three of the touchdowns for the Texans giving him a total of 12 for the season.

After the half, the Lions were determined to catch up to the Texans by scoring two touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters, but the Texans did the same. Tarleton ended Homecoming 2019 with a win of 35-21 and a post firework show.

The Texan offense is ranked No. 2 in the nation and accumulated 455-yards from passing and running. Their No. 8 ranked defense held the Lions back only allowing them to earn 84-yards.
