Tarleton adds soccer program
Women’s soccer program will debut in 2022
Tarleton State University has added a Women’s Soccer Program. The Women’s Soccer team is not currently playing but is set to debut in the fall of 2022.
The addition of Texan soccer is the newest sports addition to Tarleton State’s 15 intercollegiate sports. Texan Soccer is set to make its first game appearance in August of 2022. The Texans have already started the recruitment process. At this time Tarleton has not had any D1 prospect camps yet, however, they will begin soon.
Tarleton State hired Pete Cuadrado to be the head women’s soccer coach.
“Cuadrado [is] a two-time Division I Conference Coach of the Year and NCAA Tournament head coach,” Tarleton Sports Network says. Cuadrado “has [now] been named the first women’s soccer [coach] in Tarleton State University history,” Tarleton Sports Network said.
“Cuadrado has three regular-season conference championships and two coach[es] of the year awards. He has coached three defensive players of the year winners, 51 all-conference selections, 15 all-region selections, 88 conference all-academic recipients, and 17 NSCAA team academic awards,” Tarleton Sports Network said.
Cuadrado started his coaching career as a first assistant at Valparaiso University in 2000. He then was the first assistant at Illinois State from 2001 until 2002. Cuadrado received his first head coaching position at North Dakota State in 2003 until 2011. He then moved to the University of Wyoming to be a head coach there in 2012 until 2020 and now has a head coaching position at Tarleton State University.
Cuadrado was awarded independent coach of the year in 2005 when he was coaching for North Dakota State and in 2014 he received Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year while coaching for the University of Wyoming. Cuadrado has been coaching in the NCAA for 18 years. Be on the lookout for any additional news or information about Tarleton Women’s Soccer
