As January passes, we begin to make new goals and resolutions for the New Year. Some people make goals to eat healthier, go to the gym, and hang out with friends and family. Typically, when setting goals, individuals often construct both short term and long term goals. Long term goals are usually set within three to five years. Though Tarleton State University has been open since 1896, even in this day and age it still plans to grow and improve while utilizing the long term goal technique.

Tarleton has set five goals pertaining to student success, academic experiences, promoting work, service, and leadership, enhancing resources, and attaining national standing.

Tarleton believes in expanding on student success and increasing opportunities to create an optimal learning environment. This includes application of education knowledge into the real world, while promoting creative problem solving and drive within students. Supporting and creating more opportunities will help secure accessibility and affordability for everyone.

Improving academic experiences through hands-on learning and program expansion can help students find their passion through their academic career. Tarleton State would also like to improve technology and equipment that can help expand their research and graduate programs. Enhancing research resources at TSU would help increase engagement in internships and partnerships with other programs, while providing students new opportunities to learn and gain hands-on experience.

Promoting work, service, and leadership will also help TSU connect with its surrounding community. Connecting with students and staff from different backgrounds will help students feel more rooted and connected as they continue to build a well knit community.

Finally, Tarleton State University wishes to increase and maintain its national standing in student achievement. By attaining this recognition, Tarleton State students would be given more opportunities seeing that they are part of a  respected, prominent, distinguished college. Tarleton State is looking out for its students, and with these goals in mind, they strive to create an amazing college experience for years to come.
