On Saturday, February 20, the Tarleton State University TexAnn basketball team faced off in Wisdom Gym for the last time for the 2015-2016 season. The TexAnns’ defense was able to hold off the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs, 53-52.

On Senior Night, prior to the game the TexAnns honored their four seniors for their last game in Wisdom Gym Breanna Fuller, Raven McGrath, Morgan Ashmore and Meagan O’Dell.

The TexAnns began the game at a slower pace, with Breanna Fuller scoring the go-ahead layup for the TexAnns to put them on the board. After then however, the TexAnns began to slide behind the Buffs and went into the half at a 13-point deficit, 31-18.

When the TexAnns returned for the second half, they led a defensive and offensive attack, cutting the the Lady Buffs’ lead to just one going into the fourth quarter.

In the final minutes of the game the TexAnns did not let up. O’Dell and Fuller gave the TexAnns their five-point lead, but it was Ikpeaku Iwobi’s jumper and the TexAnns’s defense that gave the TexAnns their 53-52 victory.

Seniors Fuller and Ashmore registered double figures for the TexAnns on their home game.

The TexAnns (16-9) will conclude their season on Saturday February 27, on the road against the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions.
