Angelo State University’s Blue and Gold classic proved to be a successful outing for both the Texan and TexAnn cross country teams of Tarleton State University.

For the TexAnns who competed in the 6k event, Katelin Huckabee achieved a 3rd place finish (24:01:06), while teammate Tylo Farrar secured a 4th place finish (24:05:07). Placing 7th was Haley Dennard (24:01:51), and soon to follow was Ande Carlton in 13th (26:38:83), Audrey Shelton in 15th (27:05:61) and Clare McNiel in 17th (28:38:93). Overall, the women’s team finished first with 28 total points in the 6k event.

The Texans managed to achieve a perfect score for the 8k event, as the top-5 finishing spots were all claimed by Texan runners. Thorne Pettigrew would be the first to cross the finish line (26:38:00), a time that awarded him 1st place in the event for the first time in his career as a Texan. Tye Doty promptly followed Pettigrew placing 2nd (26:40:66), Brandon Lacy in 3rd (26:49:00), Luke Scribner in 4th(26:49:83), and Dylan Willett in 5th (26:50:00) as the Texans headed home having won the Blue and Gold classic for the second year in a row.

Tarleton is set to host the Lone Star Conference Championship on October 26, where they’ll seek to replicate their success in Angelo.
