TIAER’s Ujwal Pandey seeking assistance for those affected in Nepal
April 27, 2015
Over the weekend, Nepal was hit with an earthquake with a 7.8 magnitude near its capital city, Kathmandu. This is Napal’s most powerful earthquake since 1934, and the country is still experiencing aftershocks, with 40 confirmed so far. Along with aftershocks, over 3800 people are confirmed dead and over 7100 are injured.
Ujwal Pandey, a Senior Research Associate with Tarleton State University’s TIAER (Texas Institute For Applied Environmental Research), and a native of Nepal, is asking the Tarleton community for their help in aiding survivors and those affected by the earthquake.
Pandey said in an email, “Please keep us in your thoughts and help us by donating through various organizations however you can. If you prefer to donate cash, please let me know. We are collecting the donation and sending it back home to give it to local youth clubs and organizations who are helping the survivors. Also, please spread the word to your friends and families. We all appreciate your support in this catastrophic time.
