Tarleton State University entered Saturday’s game against the Cameron University Aggies with a 14-2 record, a sluggish start in the opening four minutes combined for only six points total from both teams.

Tarleton’s initial lead came from Nosa Ebomwonyi, advancing the score to 5-4. The Austin-Area native’s role proved pivotal in light of his posted five points, 3 three

of which came from beyond the three-point arc. Ebomwonyi’s contributions granted the Texans a lead-extension to six points; however, the Aggies contested with seven unanswered points resulting in the 29-28 Texan deficit heading into the locker-room.

TaShawn Mabry and EJ Reed accounted for half of Tarleton’s opening second half points.

At a 43 point tie, 11:03 displayed on the score-board prior to a series of multiple lead changes following the Aggie bench’s mass-substitution that would later porve ill-timed by their head coach Tom Brown. TaShawn Mabry replaced Damion Clemons prior to his game winning three-point basket that imposed Tarleton’s final lead change at 60-59.

Following another round of substitutions, four Texan free-throws in the games final 20 seconds secured a physical road victory for Coach Riesman’s Texans after this game that produced 58 total fouls. Tarleton’s bench anchored by EJ Reed’s (12 points) and Malcolm Hamilton provided 20 total points, which by default allocated the Texan starters time on the bench to avoid foul trouble, and ultimately come back and close for the win.

The Texans play at home Wednesday night, as they host (11-6, 2-2 LSC) Buffalos of West Texas A&M University at 7:30 PM in the Wisdom Gym.
