Showdown in Wisdom Gym

Tonight the Tarleton State University Texans and TexAnns will wager their conference ranking against Midwestern State University tonight in Wisdom Gym. The TexAnns, coming off a 67-57 win and the Texans with a 59-44 win against Texas A&m Kingsville University.

The TexAnns, led by first year Head Coach Misty Wilson, are looking to repeat a sweep of the Mustangs, as they did in the 2014 season, along with winning 16 of the last 20 meetings. The TexAnns are looking to use Senior Kathy Thomas, who averages 13 points per game, as a critical weapon against the Mustangs.

Head Coach Lonn Reisman is seeking to extend his team’s ranking in the top 25 to a 26th consecutive week. Reisman’s .720 winning percentage in January is second only to his own .723 LSC record during January.

Midwestern’s 14-3 overall and 2-0 conference record, and an impressive 10-game winning streak has earned them current ownership of the Lone Star Conference top ranking, while Tarleton at 13-1, has only suffered a single loss a week ago at Angelo State University.

The Texans are looking to get an advantage on the long time rival Mustangs, who not only ended the Texans record 18-game winning streak last season but ended the Texans’ postseason hopes in the 2014 NCAA Division II Tournament.

The double header goes down tonight at Wisdom Gym. The TexAnns tip off at 5:30pm and the Texans tip off at 7:30pm.
