TexAnns seek to rebound after loss

The Tarleton State University TexAnn basketball team’s record currently sits at 9-5 (3-3 in Lone Star Conference) as they head to Portales, New Mexico to face their inter-conference foe Eastern New Mexico State University.

Coach Misty Wilson and company lost 87-86 at home Wednesday to West Texas A&M University and look to correct the first-half discrepancies that initiated following a turnover of Tarleton’s first possession.

Ikpeaku Iwobi (12.4) and Kathy Thomas (14.5) will be key factors in addition to Karli Moore’s early presence enforcing her will at the boards with rebounds.

The TexAnns head into Saturday’s game shooting an impressive 35% from 3-point range, however they will seek to improve their overall shooting percentage from 41%. The variation in nearly every statistical category drops for Tarleton when comparing in-conference to non-conference, which is not surprising considering the overall depth in the LSC. The Tarleton faithful consistently hope for and expect elite Texan/TexAnn performances; but, the sigh of relief in the form of the Greyhound’s abysmal 27% 3-point percentage complimented with an overall shot percentage of 42% will prove tedious facing Tarleton’s physicality.

At 2-2 on the road, the TexAnns expect to leave the Greyhounds’ arena Saturday with nothing short of an absolute victory. Due to Tarleton’s upper-classman leadership from Raven McGrath, Thomas, Iwobi, Breanna Fuller and Moore, the Greyhounds face the daunting task of having to match Tarleton’s intensity.
