Tarleton Cross Country takes first and second at UTSA

The men and women’s cross country teams took home gold and silver, respectively, this weekend at the University of Texas at San Antonio for the Ricardo Romo Classic.

The men and women’s cross country teams took home gold and silver, respectively, this weekend at the University of Texas at San Antonio for the Ricardo Romo Classic.

Texan freshman Peyton Heinig led the team in the 5K race with a fifth place finish in 16:15.50. The next three Texans to come in were Robert Pereira, Luke Scribner and Thorne Pettigrew in 16:38.2, 16:38.9, and 16:43.3 for 11th, 12th and 13th place, respectively.Andrew Clark (17:21.6) took 23rd place, while Stefan Campos (18:26.5) placed 52nd.

Junior TexAnn Tylo Farrar led the ladies’ team with her third place finish in 19:25.40.

Lauren Finley was next to come in behind Farrar in 20:09.4. Pamela Marquez placed 14th with 20:55.0 and Makinsey Beesley (20:59.8) was 15th.

Haley Dennard (21:12.0), Ashley Dush (21:42.1) and Lindsay Schlueter (23:42.0) placed 18th, 26th and 43rd for the TexAnns, respectively.

The teams’ next meet will be at the University of Incarnate Word Cross Country Invitational on October 11th in San Antonio.
