The men and women’s cross country teams took home gold and silver, respectively, this weekend at the University of Texas at San Antonio for the Ricardo Romo Classic.

Texan freshman Peyton Heinig led the team in the 5K race with a fifth place finish in 16:15.50. The next three Texans to come in were Robert Pereira, Luke Scribner and Thorne Pettigrew in 16:38.2, 16:38.9, and 16:43.3 for 11^th, 12^th and 13^th place, respectively.Andrew Clark (17:21.6) took 23^rd place, while Stefan Campos (18:26.5) placed 52^nd.

Junior TexAnn Tylo Farrar led the ladies’ team with her third place finish in 19:25.40.

Lauren Finley was next to come in behind Farrar in 20:09.4. Pamela Marquez placed 14^th with 20:55.0 and Makinsey Beesley (20:59.8) was 15^th.

Haley Dennard (21:12.0), Ashley Dush (21:42.1) and Lindsay Schlueter (23:42.0) placed 18^th, 26^th and 43^rd for the TexAnns, respectively.

The teams’ next meet will be at the University of Incarnate Word Cross Country Invitational on October 11^th in San Antonio.
