Vice President of Student Life on administrative leave until further investigation

Rusty Jergins, former Vice President for Student Life, was dismissed following an ethics investigation that began in September of this year.

An investigation into the Division of Student Life is taking place after Rusty Jergins, the Vice President of Student Life was released on Friday with paid administrative leave, according to Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications Harry Battson.

“No further comment will be provided until completion of the investigation,” Battson said.

“I’m aware and I understand there is an ongoing investigation and I think whatever the outcome is it will be in the best solution for the students here at Tarleton State University,” Texas A&M University System Student Regent Colton Buckley said.

Darla Doty, the assistant vice president for student life will be moving into the interim position until the investigation is complete.

Battson stated it is unknown when the investigation will be completed.

Jergins was appointed Vice President of Student Life in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Tarleton and previously served as associate vice president for Student Life and Dean of Students.
