Tennis returns after dominating East Central University

Tarleton State University came back home from Oklahoma this past weekend winning its fifth sweep of the season on Thursday. The No. 26-ranked TexAnns defeated the reigning conference champions of the Great American Conference, East Central University.

Tarleton started the day with Melanie Barnes and Silvia Nieva defeating ECU 8-4, while Ivana Zecevic and Luiza Adas won their match 8-4 as well. Alicia Perez and Ellie Stevens claimed victory in a match that required an extra set, winning 9-8 with a 7-3 tiebreaking victory.

In singles, Perez took control of the No. 1 match and earned the TexAnns their fourth victory of the day in a win 6-1, 6-0. Nieva (6-1, 6-3) and Mackenzie Mitchell (6-1, 6-1) were the next two for Tarleton to finish in the win column while Barnes (6-4, 6-1), Adas (6-2, 6-2) and Zecevic (6-7, 6-3, 10-5) rounded out the Tarleton victory.

Tarleton continues at home Wednesday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match to begin Lone Star Conference play, hosting Midwestern State Universtity.
