Coming off a devastating home loss to the Cameron University Aggies, the No. 17 ranked Tarleton State University TexAnn basketball team was looking to rebound on the road against the No. 7 ranked West Texas A&M Lady Buffs.

The TexAnns opened the game on a 5-2 run to set the first half off. Senior center, Kiara Wright and senior guard, Brianna Bledsoe dominated the paint for the TexAnns for the opening minutes of the game, giving the TexAnns a 9-4 lead over the Lady Buffs. This would be the only time that the TexAnns would lead the Lady Buffs for the remainder of the game.

Early foul trouble and turnovers by the TexAnns put the Lady Buffs in a position to take control of the basketball game. The TexAnns committed seven fouls and ten turnovers in the first half alone.

Entering the second half, the TexAnns trailed the Lady Buffs, 51-26. The TexAnns attempted to erase the 25-point deficit, but the Lady Buffs were not letting up. The Lady Buffs lead the TexAnns by as many as 35 within the opening four minutes of the second half.

The TexAnns then went on a 29-9 run in the second half to decrease the deficit to 15. However, their run wasn’t enough to come back against the Lady Buffs, the TexAnns fell in their second straight game to the Lady Buffs, 82-60.

The TexAnns committed 21 turnovers in their loss to the Lady Buffs, almost tying the season high of 23.  The TexAnns now fall to an overall record of 13-3 and a Lone Star Conference record of 4-2.

The TexAnns look to redeem themselves on Saturday, Jan. 25, as they take on the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds at home in Wisdom Gym at 5 p.m.
