In another weekend tournament for the Tarleton State University Texan baseball team in Odessa, Texas, the Texans came out and impressed, defeating the University of Texas at Permian Basin 6-3 and 14-5, but falling to the Colorado School of Mines 3-1.

On Friday morning, the Tarleton State University Texan baseball team traveled to Odessa, Texas for a Friday double header and one Saturday game. Following what was arguably batting practice against Regis University, the Texans were looking for a repeat against the University of Texas at Permian Basin Falcons.

In the first morning of the Texans’ double header against the Falcons, the Texans proved it to be an easy feat for them to accomplish. Senior Jared Musgrove led the Texans with two runs. Runs from Senior Alvaro Moreno, Junior Evan Robinson, Junior Nick Gibert, and Junior Kevin Meredith contributed to the Texan win over the Falcons, 6-3.

In the afternoon game of the double header, the Texans were unsure if their second game would be won with as much ease as the first one. However, Meredith, Gibert, and Senior Luke Slentz each had two runs for the Texans as they demolished the Falcons 14-5.

When the Texans returned on Saturday to face the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers, their gameplay wasn’t as successful. Despite having five hits, compared to the Orediggers 4, and causing three errors, the Texans fell to the Orediggers 1-3. Robinson had one run in the Texans’ losing effort.

The Texans take on the Arlington Baptist Patriots at home on Friday Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. and Saturday Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
