The TexAnn basketball team had a big win Saturday night at Eastern New Mexico State, dominating over the Zias 89-64. This was Tarleton State University’s third straight win, and first road win since Jan. 15 against Midwestern State University.

Six Tarleton players were in double-digits on scoring, including all five of the starters and Raven McGrath. This was the first time all season for all five starters to reach double-digits in the same game, and the most double-figure scorers they have had as well.

There were no points from either team in the first 1:13 of the game, but after being tied 5-5 Karli Moore had back-to-back shots to put the TexAnns ahead. This began a 17-4 Tarleton push, and gave the TexAnns a strong 22-9 early lead.

Eastern New Mexico tried for a come back in the next few minutes, getting the lead down to only five at 24-19. McGrath responded with a 3-pointer off a pass from Travanti Downes to extend the lead to eight, and also started a 7-0 run to get back the double-digit deficit.

With 3:13 left in the first half, ENMU had gotten the lead down to 10, but Moore had a layup to start another Tarleton run to take them into halftime ahead 49-28.

In the second half, the TexAnns never once led by less than 20, and were ahead by as many as 33, helping them to a dominating victory.

The TexAnns had their highest on-the-road shooting percentage of the season at 59 percent from the floor. They also shot 55 percent from downtown and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Tarleton also out-rebounded the Zias 35-26 and led points in the paint 34-20.

Leading the TexAnns in scoring was Shanae Lowrance with 16 points and Wright with 14 points and 12 rebounds, recording her 55th career double-double. Rounding off the starters was Brianna Bledsoe with 11 points, while Kathy Thomas and Meagan O’Dell scored 10 each.

McGrath added 12 points, and was just two points away from scoring as much as Eastern New Mexico’s entire bench. Moore was just shy of double-digits with eight  points, while Courtney Randle, Keyra Johnson and Travanti Downes added two each. Haley Trentham and Ikpeaku Iwobi rounded out the scoring for Tarleton with one each.

The final regular season game will be next Saturday at the Field House where they will take on Texas A&M-Commerce at 5 p.m.
