The Tarleton State University tennis team improved to 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, winning against the St. Edward’s University Hilltoppers 6-3.

The TexAnns started off the day behind after the No. 1 doubles team lost to St. Edwards 8-1, but came right back to dominate the rest of the day.

The next two matches helped to bring Tarleton back into the lead. In the No. 2 match, Alicia Perez and Makenzie Mitchell were forced to end early because of an injury but won the set 5-4. Melanie Barnes and Silvia Nieve also achieved a win in the No. 3 match with a final score of 8-2.

In the singles, he TexAnns took Ivana Zecevic’s No. 2 match spot, also sweeping the No. 4-6 spots. Nieva had the most challenging night with a 6-2, 7-5 win. St. Edward’s took the No.1 and No. 3 matches.

The TexAnns will be traveling to Sam Houston State University next weekend, with the matches beginning at 1:30 p.m.
