The Texans added another win to their record when they defeated the Cameron Aggies 76-52 on Jan. 18. Now 15-0 on the season and now in first place in the LSC with a record of 4-0, this is the best start in school history

The Texans led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but Cameron closed out the half with a 9-5 run and trailed the Texans 33-24.

Tarleton’s 33 points in the first half marks the second lowest this season but the Texans kicked things back into gear as play continued and stretched their lead to 62-37 into the middle of the second half.

Cameron could never recover and the Texans continued their streak of finishing with at least 75 points for the 15th time this season.

Tarleton’s bench outscored the Aggies 40-14 and defensively held Cameron nearly 20 points under its season average of 71.1.

The Texans shot 45.5 percent from the field and went 29-for-38 from the free throw line. Cameron shot 77.8 percent from the free throw line Saturday night, but had just seven attempts from the line the entire game.

Tashawn Mabry posted 21 points and De’Andre Upchurch put 18 points over the Aggies as the only two Texans in double digit scoring. Davene Carter led the Texans with seven rebounds, while Mohammed Lee and Coleman Furst  had two steals apiece. Chuck Guy had two steals, while both he and Emmanuel Andrews had four assists each.

The Texans will take its perfect record on the road next week as the team travels to Canyon to face the West Texas A&M Buffaloes on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The two teams are scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. inside First United Bank Center.
