TexAnns fall in San Angelo

The TexAnns traveled to San Angelo in a critical Lone Star Conference matchup against Angelo State University. The TexAnns, who trailed the entire game, couldn’t pull out a win in San Angelo, falling to Angelo State, 60-55.
The Tarleton State University TexAnns, coming off an overtime loss to Cameron University, were looking to redeem themselves in an away game against the Angelo State Belles.
In the opening minutes of the first half, the TexAnns struggled to find their chemistry as a team on the floor, allowing the Belles to go on a 14-2 run for the first seven minutes. The TexAnns slowly began to come together as a team as the half progressed, coming within six of the Belles. However at the half, the TexAnns were down 30-22 at the half.
When the TexAnns returned for the second half, it almost mirrored the opening minutes of the first half. The TexAnns went down by 15 points in the second half. The TexAnns then began to gain momentum and chemistry as a team and rallied together to come within three of the Belles. The TexAnns last minute effort however, wasn’t enough to hold off the Belles. The TexAnns fell to the Belles, 60-55.
The TexAnns struggled to get in the groove throughout the game committing 16 turnovers in their loss to the Belles. The TexAnns shot just 44 percent in their loss and 35 percent from behind the arc.
Senior Center, Kiara Wright led the TexAnns in minutes played and points with 16 points in 36 minutes for the TexAnns. Wright also had three assists but committed 4 turnovers. Senior Guard, Brianna Bledsoe also contributed 13 points for the TexAnns, but also committed four turnovers.
The TexAnns look to get a win at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville in Wisdom Gym at 5p.m on Saturday.
