The No. 14 Tarleton State University TexAnns, coming off a major conference victory against Midwestern State University, came back to Wisdom Gym looking to extend their ten game winning streak against the Cameron Aggies.

The first half initially got off to a slow start, with neither team scoring for almost the first two minutes. A layup by Senior Guard, Brianna Bledsoe got the wheels turning for both the TexAnns and Aggies. The first half seemed promising for the TexAnns, who shot 56 percent from the floor, compared to the Aggies, who shot just 32 percent from the floor. With the TexAnns leading the Aggies 33-32 at the half, all was not well in Wisdom Gym, as no one was sure of the outcome.

The TexAnns came back from half time in full force, quickly gaining a five point lead over the Aggies. Senior Center Kiara Wright held the TexAnns in the game with 18 points of her own.

The TexAnns led by as many as eight points nearing the last nine minutes of play. Once the TexAnns started to get relaxed in their play, it was clear that it was anyone’s game for the taking. The TexAnns began to let off their gas in the final minutes, and the Aggies saw this as a clear shot for them to take the win from the TexAnns on their home court and snap their ten game winning streak.

However, with four missed shots, including a three-pointer, three turnovers, and three fouls by the TexAnns in the final three minutes, the Aggies took control toward the final minutes, with the TexAnns falling to the Aggies, 69-64.

Junior guard Kathy Thomas and senior center Shanae Lowarance both provided a healthy supporting cast, each putting up ten points.

The TexAnns are next scheduled against the West Texas A&M University Buffaloes in Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 22.
