TexAnns have career high night with 104-36 win

The No. 24 Tarleton TexAnns came to play Tuesday night against Arlington Baptist. Eight TexAnns set or tied their personal career highs taking an impressive 104-36 victory.

The TexAnns are currently on a four game winning streak, and have outscored there last three oponents 274-136 as well as dominating in rebounds 154-81. Tarleton has also had .493 shooting average from the field, and .393 from dowtown in those games.

After the teams traded the first two shots, tying the game 2-2, Kiara Wright scored the first nine Tarleton points, and had a free throw that started a 19-1 TexAnn run making the lead a dominating 21-3.

Arlington Baptist attempted a comeback responding with an 8-2 run to make the game 23-11. Kathy Thomas answered with an offensive rebound that gave the TexAnns momentum for the rest of the game.

Tarleton then had a 28-14 run to end the first half with a 51-25 lead, and on trail to win the game with a now 7-0 record when leading at half.

The TexAnns did not slow down in the second half of the game and scored 53 of the 64 points in the half.

Raven McGrath had a career high 18 points, and tied her career high in rebounds with three. Ikpeaku Iwobi had her first career double-double adding 11 points and 13 rebounds, and also adding her first collegiate assist.

Wright had a team high 22 points, passing Helena Snith for ninth on Tarleton’s all-time scoring list with 1,234 points, as well as 10 rebounds in only 22 minutes. This is her fifth double-double this season 42nd in her career.

Adding to the career bests are Travanti Downes with six points, four rebounds, and two assists; as well as Margaret Lemke with six rebounds and three assits, and Courtney Randle with two rebounds. Haley Tretham had her first collegiate assist, and Kathy Thomas and Meagan O’Dell tied their personal bests with five assists and three rebounds respectively.

Keyra Johnson and Thomas each had 10 points, and also getting on the board for the TexAnns were Morgan Ashmore and Lemke with three, Brianna Bledsoe with five, Shanae Lowrance and Karli Moore with six, as well as Randle and O’Dell with two each.

The TexAnns will have a two week break, and are back on Dec. 17 in Wisdom Gym taking on Cedarville University from Ohio at 6 p.m.
