No. 24 TexAnns victorious over Texas Wesleyan

Tuesday, Nov. 26, the TexAnns proved they deserve that No. 24 ranking. Tarleton faced Texas Wesleyan and walked away with an 80-40 victory and a new 6-1 season record.

Brianna Bledsoe started out the game with a 3-pointer within the first eight seconds of play. Her shot kicked off a 14-0 TexAnn run. Texas Wesleyan wasn’t able to score during the first 5:15 of the game.

Texas Wesleyan managed to get four points, but the TexAnn defense kept them shut down for the next 10 minutes.

Going into the half, the TexAnns led 55-16. This makes 6-0 for Tarleton leading at the half.

The second half started off with a steal by Morgan Ashmore and a layup by Shanae Lowrance.

Tarleton was able to take their 39-point lead from the half and turn it into 47 at the 8:45 mark of the second half, which was their biggest lead in that half.

Kiara Wright and Raven McGrath had team-high scores of 13 points each, a career high for McGrath. Wright finished with nine rebounds, just one shy of another double-double.

Kathy Thomas added 12 points of her own, while Bledsoe and Karli Moore each had 10.

Also aiding in the TexAnn victory were Shanae Lowrance (7), Morgan Ashmore (6), Meagan O’Dell (4), Courtney Randle (3), and Travanti Downes (2).

The TexAnns shot 49 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the 3-point line.

The next game for the TexAnns won’t be until next Tuesday, Dec. 3 against Arlington Baptist. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
