Hinton and Coughlin recognized by USTFCCCA

Coming off their national qualifying race last weekend, Lindsey Hinton and Aly Coughlin were named All-Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

“I feel really accomplished and as if the hard work we have put in all season is paying off,” said Coughlin.  “I’m really excited with the way this season has unfolded and am ready to compete at nationals. “

Coughlin has also received the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year award, as well as All-Conference recognition.

This is Hinton’s second All-Region award, her previous one was won in 2011. She also has made quite the list of honors this season including the individual Conference Championship and All-LSC honors.  Next on the list is Nationals.

“Going to nationals with this team is very rewarding because we have worked so hard since June to achieve this goal,” Hinton said. “I’m really happy to go with this group of girls, this is the closest team I have ever been on so it’s neat to achieve so many accomplishments with them.”

The honor was given to the top 25 in the South Central Region.

Hinton finished in 17th place with a time of 22:07, and Coughlin was right behind her in 24th place with a time of 22:19 helping the TexAnns to finish in sixth place and receive their first ever NCAA berth in the National Championship.

The TexAnn cross-country team will be heading to Spokane, Wash. on Nov. 23 for the NCAA Division II National Championships.
