TexAnn cross country finishes 24th at National Championship

After starting the season unranked, the Tarleton State University woman’s cross country team finished 24th in the nation at the National Championship Meet in Spokane, Wash. this past weekend.

Lindsey Hinton, the team’s only senior, continued to lead the TexAnns through the regional meet and won the individual Lone Star Conference Championship. Hinton crossed the finish line at the national meet with a time of 22:10.3, securing a 59th place finish to end her career.

Aly Coughlin, the LSC Newcomer of the Year, finished in the nation’s top 100 grabbing hold of 95th place with a time of 22:34.7. Audrey Shelton, LSC Freshman of the Year, and Katelin Huckabee ended among the nation’s top 200, with Huckabee placing 119th with a time of 22:47.2 and Shelton finishing 160th with a time of 23:11.4.

Rounding out the TexAnn runners were Tylo Farrar (24:13.5) in 214th place, Sarai Clendenin (24:52.7) in 231st place and Lillianna Casteneda (25:37.4) in 239th place.

The United States Track, Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association will release a final national poll next week, but the TexAnns are currently the second-leading vote receiver sitting outside the national polls.
