No. 17 Texans roll over Dallas Christian

The Tarleton State University men’s basketball team hosted Dallas Christian on Nov. 26. The Texans (5-0) easily defeated the non-conference team with a final score of 106-41.

Tarleton has now scored more than 100 points in back-to-back games for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

The Texans took an early 11-2 lead, then a 3-pointer from De’Andre Upchurch sparked the 7-2 Texan run.

Tarleton was able to get another good run to make the score 44-8 with less than six minutes left in the first half.

A 15-9 run led to a 59-17 lead to start off the second half.

The Texans came out of the locker room with a 14-1 run to make the score 73-18. A 59-point lead was eventually reached by the help of two free throws from Tashawn Mabry with 9:55 left to play.

Tarleton ended the game with a 17-5 run and a 64-point lead over Dallas Christian, the largest margin of victory so far this season.

Upchurch had a game high 22 points. Chuck Guy came next with 15. Emanuel Andrews and Michael Hardge had 12 and 10 points, respectively, from the bench.

Davene Carter was the team leader with 11 rebounds. Jon Cathey-Macklin and Mabry finished with five rebounds each.

The Texans were able to force the Crusaders to 28 turnovers, a season high.

Tarleton’s next game will be Saturday, Nov. 30, against East Central. The game is set for 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
