TexAnn cross country finishes third at Chili Pepper Festival

The men and women’s cross country team went all the way to Arkansas this past weekend for their meet. The teams competed in the Chili Pepper festival at the University of Arkansas, with the TexAnns bringing home third, and the Texans finishing ninth.

Freshman Audrey Shelton led the TexAnns this week. Shelton finished the 5,000-meter run in 18:44.2 and finished 46th overall.

Katelin Huckabee, Lindsey Hinton and Aly Coughlin were close behind. Huckabee placed 52nd overall and finished in 18:49.3, Hinton ran a 18:55.6, earning her 56th place, and Coughlin finished in 19:00.7 for 63rd.

Also competing for the TexAnns were first time runner Tylo Farrar (20:26.0) and veteran Lauren Finley (21:01.3).

The men’s race was an 8,000-meter race with Tye Doty leading the Texans. Doty finished in 65th place with a time of 26:05.6. The only other Texan to finish in the top 100 was Dylan Willett with 69th place and a time of 26:07.7.

Chase Rathke (26:30.8) took 105th overall, Miles Joslin (27:02.8) finished 141st, James Bodnar (27:23.5) placed 165th, and Ben Haynes (27:49.7) finished 204th place.

The Texans and TexAnns will travel to Angelo State University on Oct. 15th for the ASU Blue and Gold.
