Langdon Review Weekend

On Thursday, September 6, The Langdon Review Weekend begins at the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center in Granbury, Texas.  The Langdon Review Weekend is an annual literary and arts festival that starts every year on the Thursday after Labor Day, and features the writers and artists that are featured in the journal, Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas.

TheLangdon Review of the Arts in Texas is published annually by Tarleton State University and provides an overview of this year’s great cultural accomplishments in Texas. The journal includes poetry, articles, short stories, essays, photographs, paintings and music.

The journal was co-founded nine years ago by Dr. Marilyn Robitaille and Donna Walker-Nixon, and is now run by Dr. Robitaille, Director of International Programs and Dr. Moumin Quazi, Associate Professor of English.

“Each year at the Langdon Review Weekend, the journal is unveiled and for two and a half days we have sessions, workshops, performances, and a film screening.” Dr. Quazi said.

“The journal is this unique art journal that is more than just poetry, or more than just short stories, or photographs, or paintings,” Dr. Quazi said, “it does all of the arts in Texas.”

Some of the speakers and performers include: 2005 Texas Poet Laureate Alan Birkelback, documentarian Natalie Stiles, 2012 Texas Poet Laureate Jan Seale, The SceneShop Theater group, and musician and writer Jimmy Baldwin.

The festival is open to the public and tickets are $60 for one day, $90 for all three days and free to students. Brunch and picnic tickets are also available for $12 for everyone.
