Three Texans hit NCAA provisional mark

The Tarleton State University Track team ran at Angelo State University’s David Noble Relays last Saturday. Three Texan athletes hit the NCAA provisional mark in their respective events.

In the field events, Travis Allison took second place in the high jump with a leap of 2.00m (6′ 6.75″) and Davene Carter finished fourth with a height of 1.85m (6′ 0.75″).

Patrick McHale finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 6.73m (22.1″) and Phillip Gosnell took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 13.49m (44′ 3.25″).

In the sprint and hurdle events Phillip Hayes, Cameron Krc and Randall Kadlacek finished with times that put them in the ranks with the best in the nation.

Hayes took first in the 200m dash with a time of 21.42 in the finals, earning his provisional mark. Krc hit his mark after finishing third in the 400m dash in 47.81. Kadlacek was the last to meet the mark, finishing second, with a 14.67 in the 100m hurdles.

Clarencio Guerrero (22.73) finished eighth in the finals for the 200m dash and Marquis Thompson (51.05) finished sixth in the 400m dash. Kyle Johnson (15.05) and Thompson (15.57) gained points in the 110m hurdles.

In the 400m hurdles, Jeff Smith (53.53) finished second, Anthony Parisi (55.30) finished fourth, Kadlacek (55.31) finished fifth, Johnson (56.76) finished sixth and Tyler Fisher (57.89) finished seventh.

In the 800m run, Chase Rathke finished first with a time of 1:54.16 and Brian Cooper took eighth with a time of 2:00.59.

Tye Doty won first in the 1500m run with a time of 3:59.69 and Thorne Pettigrew finished sixth in 4:20.35.

Miles Joslin placed third in the 5000m run with a time of 16:00.70.

In the 4x100m relay, Brendan Williams, Hayes, Conner Wilkes and Jordan Jones finished fourth with a time of 41.93, just .75 seconds off the NCAA provisional mark.

In the 4×400, Tarleton had two teams compete. The A-squad of Krc, Hayes, Guerrero and Smith took third in 3:18.26 and the B-squad of Thompson Kadlacek, Parisi and Gordon Alvarado finished sixth in 3:25.62.

The Texans will run at Texas A&M Commerce’s Lion Invitational on April 13.
