TexAnns finish second at ASU Relays

Danyelle Dillard and Nikki McNorton led the TexAnns this past week at the Angelo State University Relays. Dillard also broke a school record in shot put. She won first place, hit the NCAA provisional mark and broke a 19-year old Tarleton record in the event. Dillard threw 14.42m (47′ 3.75″), beating Belinda Hardee’s 1994 record of 46′ 9.5″.

Dillard also competed in discus and hammer throw. She threw the disk 33.89m (111′ 2″), finishing 10th place, and the hammer 36.78m (120′ 8″), finishing fifth place.

McNorton finished second in the high jump with a leap of 1.66m (5′ 5.25″) and Shelby Terry finished sixth in the event with a jump of 1.56m (5′ 1.25″).

Maycen Eubank took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 2.88m (9′ 5.25″), Shelby Greenwalt finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 5.31m (17′ 5.25″) and Austin DuPont-Jackson finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 11.21m (36′ 9.5″).

Kallie Johanson placed third in the shot put (13.24m; 43′ 5.25″) and fourth in the discus (38.79m; 127′ 3″). Brianna Johnson finished sixth in shot put (12.37m; 40′ 7″) and fourth in the hammer (40.20m; 131′ 11″).

In the running events, McNorton finished first and secured an NCAA provisional mark in the 100m hurdles with a personal best time of 13.96.

Jenna Duncan qualified for finals in the 100m and 400m hurdles. She finished seventh in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.25 and finished fourth in the 400m hurdles in 1:06.35.

Greenwalt (1:08.63) and Stephanie Kornegay (1:07.71) also competed in the finals in the 400m hurdles finishing sixth and fifth, respectively.

Diamond Wilson (26.23) finished second in the 200m dash and Hannah White (26.75) took third. Wilson (59.01) and Owens (59.97) competed in the 400m dash, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.

Payton Shoush won the 800m run with a time of 2:16.79 and Ashley Husbands finished fourth in 2:30.17.

In the 5000m run, Celest Meyer (19:33.40) finished fourth and Katelin Huckabee (20:00.61) took seventh.

The 4x100m relay team of Delynn Garrett, McNorton, White and Wilson finished in second place with a time of 48.88. The 4x400m relay A-squad of Paige Klein, Greenwalt, Owens and Wilson finished third in 4:02.01 and the B-squad of Kornegy, Shoush, Terry and Garrett finished fourth in 4:10.49.

Tarleton will be running at Texas A&M Commerce for the Lion Invitational on April 13.
