4x400m relay team, Kadlacek make NCAA provisional mark

The 4x400m relay team and Randall Kadlacek hit the NCAA provisional mark on Saturday, April 13, at the Lion Invitational at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The relay team of Marquis Thompson, Phillip Hayes, Cameron Krc and Clarencio Guerrero hit their first NCAA provisional mark of the season and took home the gold for the 4x400m relay. The relay team finished the even in 3:14.10, beating the national qualifying time by 0.56.

In other distance events, 10 of the 11 runners finished in the top 10.

Miles Joslin won the 5000m run with a time of 15:51.43. James Polasek (15.53.76), Jeffrey Currie (16:45.94) and Mason Wrobel (16:51.86) took third, seventh and ninth place, respectively, in the 5K.

In the 1500m run, Thorne Pettigrew finished second with a time of 4:10.94 and Alejandro Benites finished ninth with a time of 4:35.78.

In the 800m, Brian Cooper (2:01.41) took fourth, Gordon Alvarado (2:01.48) took fifth, Stefan Campos (2:03.18) took sixth and Pettigrew (2:03.94) took seventh.

Kadlacek placed second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.67 to hit the NCAA provisional mark for a second time this season. DeVodney Thomas (15.23), Kyle Johnson (15.26) and Anthony Parisi (16.28) finished third, fourth and fifth in the event.

Johnson (55.33) and Fisher (58.41) finished first and third in the 400m hurdles. Parisi recorded a no time.

Brendan Williams finished fifth in the 100m dash in 11.12 and fourth in the 200m dash in 22.12.

In the field events, Peyton Best competed in the long jump and the javelin throw. Best had a jump of 6.42m (21′ 1″) in the long jump giving him ninth place and threw the javelin 43.99m (144 4″) for a third place finish.  Bryce Pugh threw the javelin 44.23m (145′ 1″) and placed second.

Phillip Gosnell competed in the shot put and discuss Gosnell threw 1.92m (42′ 5″) in the shot put and placed sixth and threw the discus 2.34m (144′ 4″), finishing sixth.

The Texans will travel to Waco on April 20 for the Michael Johnson Relays at Baylor University.
