Texan hits NCAA provisional mark in high jump

Travis Allison hit his first ever NCAA provisional mark in the high jump Saturay at the Michael Johnson Invitational Relays at Baylor University.

The only two team members to compete in the field events were high jumpers, one including Allison.

The freshman high jumper jumped 2.05m (6′ 8.75″), the exact height needed for the national meet. Allison finished third place and is the sixth Texan to hit the NCAA provisional mark this season.

Davene Carter also competed in the high jump. Carter finished fifth place with a height of 1.95m (6′ 4.75″).

In the sprints and hurdes, Cameron Krc had the best finish. Krc competed in the 400m dash and ran a 48.23, giving him third place. He was only 0.23 seconds shy of his second NCAA provisional mark of the season. Marquis Thompson also competed in the quarter. He finished eighth with a time of 49.48.

Phillip Hayse finished 11th in the 200m dash in 22.31.

In the 400m hurdles, Jeff Smith (54.09) finished second, Randall Kadlacek (55.30) finished third, Anthony Parisi (55.35) finished fourth and Kyle Johnson (55.58) finished fifth.

In the distance and relay races, Dylan Willett finished first in the 1500m run in 4:03.57.

In the 800m run Chase Rathke (1:54.48) finished fifth and Brian Cooper (1:57.97) finished 18th.

The 4x400m relay team of Thompson, Hayes, Krc and Clarencio Guerrero took fifth place with a time of 3:16.51.

In the 5000m run, Miles Joslin (15:34.82) finished ninth and James Polasek (16:21.29) finished 16th.

The Texans have this weekend off to prepare for the LSC Championship in Canyon next weekend.
