TexAnn track competes at Baylor

Two TexAnns barely missed their NCAA provisional marks on Saturday at the Micahel Johnson Invitational meet at Baylor University.

In the field events, Danyelle Dillard finished the highest. She took 15th place in the shot put with a throw of 13.04m (42′ 9.5″). Kallie Johanson (12.16m; 39′ 10.75″) and Marissa Westbrook (11.65m; 38′ 2.75″) also threw the shot put for 20th and 23rd place, respectively.

Johanson also competed in the discus throw. She threw 37.78m (123′ 11″) and finished in 22nd place. Brianna Johnson threw the disc 37.78m (123′ 11″) for 21st place.

Tarleton had three hurdlers finish in the top10 in each of their events. Shelby Terry ran the 100m hurdles in 14.96 and claimed eight place, Nikki McNorton finished in seventh place with a time of 14.65.

Jenna Duncan ran the 400m hurdles in 1:06.52 and finished eighth.

In the 200m dash, Hannah White (26.07) finished 16th place and Diamond Wilson (26.15) finished 18th.

All four athletes that competed in the distance races finished in the top 10 of at least one of their events.

Payton Shoush led the TexAnns with her fifth place finish in the 800m run in 2:17.64, just 3.14 seconds short of the NCAA provisional mark.

Ashley Husbands had her top10 finish in the 1500m run in 4:56.30.

In the 5000m, Katelin Huckabee (18:25.69) finished fifth; Celeste Meyer (18:43.33) finished ninth and Husbands (19:01.26) finished 11th.

The 4x400m relay team of Diamond Wilson, Paige Klein, Shoush and Shelby Greenwalt finished in 10th place with a time of 4:00.87.

The TexAnns have this weekend off to prepare for the LSC Championship on May 2 in Canyon.
