TexAnns earn sixth-consecutive LSC Golf Championship

The No. 4 Tarleton TexAnn golf team shot a two day total of 616, giving them their sixth consecutive win at the Lone Star Conference Golf Championship at The Golf Club at Champions Circle in Fort Worth on Monday and Tuesday.

At the end of day one, the TexAnns trailed Midwestern State University by eight strokes, but the team finished the last day with a 22-stroke improvement. The team finished 40 over par (319+297) and beat MSU (628) by 12 strokes.

Freshman Isabell Jimenez-Perea won second place overall in the individual competition. She shot a 74, two over par, on Tuesday and a 73, one over par, on Monday. Jimenez-Parea was announced The LSC Freshman and Player of the year.

Senior Jacqueline Lau shot par (72) on Tuesday, which was nine strokes better than her final score on Monday. Lau took third in the individual competition at nine over par (81+72). She also received all-tournament honors.

Sophomore Jessica Pickwick finished 11 strokes better on Tuesday (85) than on Monday (74). Pickwick’s two-day total of 159 earned her eighth place in the individual competition.

Junior Sharon Lau (82+77) shot six strokes better on day two than on day one; she tied for ninth place in the individual competition with a total of 160.

Junior Sarah Fulfer shot an 82 on Monday and Tuesday giving her a total of 164 and the tie for 21st place.

Next for the TexAnns is to wait on a bid to the West Regional tournament at Tiara Rado Golf Club in Grand Junction, Colorado on May 5-7. The TexAnns are currently ranked second in the West Region.
