The Tarleton State University TexAnn tennis team took on Southern Nazarene University last Saturday after some time off over spring break.  The week off didn’t kill their momentum as they came out victorious 7-2.

In singles play, Alicia Perez (No. 1) won 5-7, 6-1, 6-4, and Karla Martinez (No. 2) won 6-1, 7-5. Melanie Barnes (No. 3) dropped the match 2-6, 5-7, while Silvia Nieva (No. 5) won 6-3, 6-3, and Marina Rull (No. 6) won 6-1, 6-1. Ivana Zecevic (No. 4) had an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Two doubles teams had commanding wins. Alicia Perez and Karla Martinez (No. 1) won 8-3, while Mackenzie Mitchell and Rull (No. 3) won 8-2. Zecevic and Barnes (No. 2) lost a hard-fought battle 9-7.

The TexAnns will host Abilene Christian University in Stephenville at 5 p.m. on March 27.
