Award-winning former poet laureate Marilyn Nelson to read from her new book Faster than Light

On Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Building Room 116, Former poet laureate of Connecticut from 2001-2006, Frost Medalist, and Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets Marilyn Nelson will be reading from her new book Faster than Light.

Since 1978 Nelson has taught at the University of Connecticut, where she is a professor emerita of English. In 2013, Nelson was elected a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.

Her books include Faster Than Light: New and Selected Poems, 1996-2011 (2012); The Cachoeira Tales, and Other Poems (2005); The Fields of Praise: New and Selected Poems (1997); The Homeplace (1990), which won the 1992 Annisfield-Wolf Award; Mama’s Promises (1985); and For the Body (1978); all published by Louisiana State University Press.
