Disciples for Christ

With Tarleton State University’s freshman enrollment increasing every year, it is becoming even more important for students to get involved on campus, this is where Delta Phi Xi steps in.

This Christian based fraternity was founded in December 2007. It is open to all full-time male students with a minimum 2.0 GPA. According to the chapter website, “The fraternity is named Delta Phi Xi to symbolize acrostically Disciples for Christ.” This brotherhood also stands behind their national verse of 1 Peter 4:11, and eight “basic truths and doctrines” that its members hold true.

Sophomore communications major and Secretary, Josh Duran, said, “Delta Phi Xi exists to glorify Jesus Christ and to fellowship with our brothers in Christ. Our earnest desire is for God to work and for us to join Him in His works. We do this by fostering fellowship, unity in the body, discipleship, and seeking the will of God. Our purpose is for Christ to be seen clearly.”

During the rush process young men, “will share how far they are in their faith and from there we will proceed onto the Potential Member process” Duran said. With around 10 active members, President Aaron Johnson and this fraternity are looking to increase their membership.

Duran also added that, “Many social activities are available, as well as opportunities to serve the community.  This organization is a great opportunity to make relationships that will last forever, and a great way to further strengthen faith and belief.”

Delta Phi Xi also helps to sponsor World Vision, “an organization dedicated to aiding and helping the communities around the world that are less fortunate,” Duran said. These brothers also hope to launch the first Delta Phi Xi 5K sometime this semester.
