Jake and Dorothy’s Cafe good burgers on a budget

Jake and Dorothy’s Cafe has been around the small town of Stephenville for quite some time now; 64 years to be exact. The classic home cooked style of food gives this town an even greater sense of comfort and really does make it “The Best Place in Town to Eat.”

Jake and Dorothy Roach built the café and now their daughter, Kerry Roach, continues to keep the café going. The variety of foods such as breakfast appetizers and desserts fill the customers up. The chicken fried steak and waffle fries are popular with guests.

I found the Tuesday Student Special for $1 hamburgers to be the best buy for your money. Students from Tarleton pack the café for the delicious burgers. The burgers are average size and loaded with tomatoes, onions, pickles, and the choice of mayonnaise or mustard.  Afterwards a piece of pie completes the meal. If you’re in the mood for a good burger and you’re on a budget, I would recommend Jake and Dorothy’s.

Overall the atmosphere at the café is great. Most of the time there is no wait for a table to open and a waitress is right there to greet you.

Jake and Dorothy’s is located just outside of the square on 406 E Washington St, and you can contact them at 254-965-5211.
