Cowboy Capital Rollergirl of the week – Annetta Beretta
September 7, 2012
The J-TAC: How did you choose your name?
Annetta Beretta: My friends came up with it. I came up with like four more. It was just really hard, a lot of names are already taken. You have to go to a webpage to see what names have been taken.
It sounded cool. I wanted Calamity Lane, but that was already taken.
JTAC: What position do you play?
AB: Blocker.
JTAC: How long have you been playing?
AB: Six months.
JTAC: What initially interested you in roller derby?
AB: An outlet for violence? No, that’s probably not a good answer (laughs). Uh, I think your supposed to say like team sports. An outlet for all my energy, I’ll say that, that’s better right? (laughs)
JTAC: How do you feel about the move to the new venue [Lonestar Arena]?
AB: I’m really excited. That’s awesome, it’s fricking cool. It’s gonna be great it’ll be a lot more comfortable than [the roller rink]. A lot more seating, better food, better drinks. I think beer makes any sporting event better.
JTAC: Are you playing against the Wicked Outlaws on [August] 25?
AB: I’m part of the Bolt Action Betties, but because the Pistol Annies don’t have enough people I play for both teams.
JTAC: Do you have any other duties to the league?
AB: No, they are quickly scooped up, before I even know that there’s something that needs to be done, there’s like four girls on top of it. And, I guess I should volunteer my time more, but I have three kids and I really don’t have enough time. I’ve got a full time job and three kids and I’m a single mom.
