Tarleton rodeo’s qualifiers to this year’s College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) will be in the television spotlight tonight. The best action from the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s premier event will be featured on ESPNU.

The college rodeo action begins airing Friday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. with ESPNU televising two hours of competition from the 63rd annual CNFR, held in Casper, Wyo., June 10-16. Additional airings of the show will be replayed throughout the month of August.

The exciting action of the finals also includes interviews and features from the entire finals week and portions of the CNFR awards ceremony. Hosting the ESPNU College Rodeo series are Boyd Polhamus and Bob Tallman.

Tarleton was represented by 12 students among the more than 400 qualifiers from over 100 universities at this year’s CNFR, an event that’s known as the “Rose Bowl” of college rodeo.

Prior to the CNFR, Tarleton’s men’s team won this year’s National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southwest Region title and the women’s team claimed reserve champion honors.

Jake Self had an excellent showing in the bareback riding event and returned from Casper as this year’s reserve national champion at the CNFR, and also received reserve champion accolades in the national year-end standings among bareback riders.
